Dogs

D23177 Hey, look at me!  My name is Coral and I’m a 5-year-old spayed female Pomeranian. I came in with Mufasa, my brother. I’m the sweetest, most loving little girl. I love to be around people and would love to go to a family that will treat me like a princess.

D23178 Hello, I’m Mufasa!  I’m a 6-year-old male Pomeranian. I came in with my sister, Coral. I’m a little shy and should be in a home with no small children. I would really love a home that is quiet where I can relax and enjoy life.

D22889 Hey there, look at me!  I’m Yeyo, a 3-year-old neutered male Mastiff mix. I was brought in by my owner not for anything that was my fault. I’m a big lovable guy. I’m good with other dogs and kids, and I’m housetrained.  I’m a great guy and deserve a loving family.

D23095 Hey, look at me! My name is Teddy and I’m a 2-year-old male Wire-haired Terrier mix. I’m a nervous little boy. I came in as a stray and I need a home with someone where I can sit back and enjoy life. I am sweet once you know and trust.

D23142 Hey, they call me Zero!  I’m a 1-year-old neutered male German Shepherd. I’m very young and playful and I need a Shepherd-loving owner to give me lots of exercise and training. My way of saying hello is to jump on you! I’m not being mean but that may scared some people. Please come for me!

D22873 Hello, I’m called King and I’m a 3-year-old male Pit Bull. I was taken out of a home because I wasn’t being cared for. I came in with Princess. I’m a good boy and I love to go for walks and play, but I also know how to relax!

D22875 Hi, please look at me!  I’m Princess and I’m a 5-year-old female Pit Bull. I came in with 2 other dogs – King who is still here and another dog who was adopted. We were taken from a bad situation and now are looking for someone to give us a loving second chance.

D23078 Psst, over here!  They call me Roman and I’m a 2-year-old male Pit Bull mix. I’m a young guy, looking for a nice family.  Pits are very loving and loyal dogs, and make great family pets. Please give us all a chance!

D22658 Hello, I’m Sylvia!  I’m a 10-month-old female Put Bull. I am an active girl and I need a family that can exercise me a lot and give me lots of things to do!

D23042 Hi, they call me Sissy and I’m a 2-year-old female Pit Bull. I’m a beautiful young girl who only has one wish – for a new warm home with a nice loving family. Please consider adopting. There are too many of us and not enough homes.

D23013 Hey there, they call me Precious! I’m a 3-year-old female Pit Bull. I got my name because I’m such a sweet, loving girl. I love to go for walks and meet new people. I’m a happy girl with just one wish – a nice, new family.

D23094 Hello, I’m Diamond!  I’m a 3-year-old female Pit Bull. I came in as a stray, very thin and as you can see, I had so many puppies. Now it’s my turn for happiness instead of working on raising pups!  All I ask is for a nice family, warm bed and tasty food. Oh, and love too!

D23130 Hey, they call me Bubba! I’m a 10-month-old male Pit Bull. I’m a young boy looking for a new, loving family. I’m a good boy! I would love an active family to give me lots of time and exercise.

D23061 Hello, they call me Atlas and I’m a 4-year-old male Pit Bull. I’m a gorgeous guy, well-behaved and such a big lover! I don’t deserve to be sitting here in a shelter. I deserve a great, loving home!

D23161 Hi, they call me Fiona!  I’m a 5-year-old female Pit Bull. I’m a middle-aged sweet girl. I love people and going for walks, I enjoy just having a good time. Please come in and see me!

D23147 Hello, I’m Tucker! I’m a 3-year-old neutered male Pit Bull. I came in as a stray, then I was adopted and brought back because I have some separation anxiety. I would love a home with people who can either give me lots of exercise when they’re home or maybe a family that works different shifts so someone can be with me. Separation anxiety is common with shelter pets. We’re been through so much and just need time to adjust to a new home.

D23040 Hello, they call me F. Harris! I’m a 3-year-old male Pit Bull mix. I have this silly cone on my head due to surgery but I am recovering now! I came in as a stray. I’m very sweet and have lots of energy. I need an active family!  I am very much a puppy and just want to enjoy life and have a good time.

D23182 Hello, they call me Dexter! I’m a 2-year-old male Shepherd mix. I’m young yet I’m very well-behaved. I would do great with any family. I was a stray and can’t think of anything I would love more than a loving family.

D23072 Hello, they call me Christian and I’m a 3-year-old male Pit Bull. I’m a young guy, one of many who comes into the shelter regularly. I’m a sweet guy who has energy and needs a family that will give me lots of playtime and exercise.

D23071 Hey there, they call me Margo!  I’m a 3-year-old female Pit Bull. I’m a happy girl, I love to go for walks and enjoy being in the company of people. I would love to go home and be a part of of nice family!

D23024 Psst, over here! I’m Mason, a 3-year-old male Pit Bull. When you look at me, you might see just another one of those Pits. Well believe me, I’m not. I am a big boy but I am so loving and sweet. We all have our own personalities and are individuals. Please look at us that way and don’t stereotype!

D22932 Hello, my name is Prancer and I’m a 2-year-old female Pit Bull. I have been here for a while (since before Christmas, hence my name!). But I would really prefer to be in a home with a family. I love to be around people and I enjoy giving attention as much as getting it. Please consider me!

D23208  Psst, over here! I’m Vito! I’m a 6-year-old male German Shepherd. I was brought into the shelter because my family had allergies to me.  I am a very sweet, loving boy. I am housetrained, good with kids and have lived with cats.  I'm perfect!!

ARL's Foster Care Program

Do you love older dogs and cats or ones with special needs? So do we! We need YOU!

The ARL is looking to establish a list of a few good homes who would be willing to provide temporary care for

older or special needs dogs and cats while we look for their forever homes. How does it work?
• The ARL pays for vet care, you only need to provide food and toys (and love of course!)
• The ARL will do a home visit and check vet references to ensure that the pet is going into a good environment.
    • If you have one or more dogs, they must come to the shelter to meet the foster dog to ensure that they will get along.

And your dogs must be up-to-date on vaccines and have current licenses.
• Foster homes must have their own transportation, commit to providing the pet with proper vet care and adequate exercise,

and can bring the pet to the shelter when necessary to meet potential adopters.
For anyone interested in this worthwhile and rewarding opportunity, please stop by and fill out a foster home application.
Thank you for caring about those who can't help themselves!

The following pets are in foster homes (they're not at the shelter), awaiting their

forever homes!  Please call the shelter or email Marcy Tocker at marcyb411@hotmail.com

to schedule an appointment to meet them!

Please be patient - it may take a few days to respond!

Hi, I'm Holly. Check out my ears! I am a 7-10 year old spayed female Chihuahua mix. I needed emergency surgery when I first left for my foster home to remove bladder stones. Some nice people offered to help pay for my surgery. I am very greatful that they didn't give up hope because I'm not a young puppy anymore. It was scary, but I feel much better now. I love running around and playing with the other dogs in my foster home. I am crate trained and doing well with housetraining. Everyone who meets me falls in love with me. I'm sure you will too.

I am in a foster home so please email Marcy at marcyb411@hotmail.com to set up an appointment to meet me.

Hello, I'm Sparkles! I'm a 2-year-old spayed female Pit Bull with lots of love to give. I'm in a foster home and I'm looking for my forever home. I like other dogs, kids, and getting lots of attention. I really enjoy going for car rides and playing with my toys. I need a home with someone who understands the Pit Bull breed. If you are looking for a dog who is loyal and wants to be your best friend, then I'm your girl!

I am in a foster home so please email Marcy at marcyb411@hotmail.com to set up an appointment to meet me.

C45385 Hello, my name is Lily and I’m a 2-year-old spayed female black and brown tiger DSH. I was a momma cat who was fostered by an ARL employee until my babies were old enough. They were all adopted and now I’m still here! I’m very lovable and need a new forever home!

I am in a foster home so please email Marcy at marcyb411@hotmail.com to set up an appointment to meet me.

Hi, I’m Annie, a 5-7 year-old spayed female Pit Bull, one of over 50 dogs removed from a dog fighting bust in NC this summer. I was used as a breeder and bait dog and lived tied to a steel drum and fed by having food thrown on the ground.  But despite all of that, I am sweet and loving. I’m crate trained and never have accidents. I should probably go to a home as an only dog but maybe with the proper match, I would be okay.

Please contact Diane at the ARL (extension 103) for more information or to make an appointment to meet me.

Goldilocks is a 1-year-old spayed female Pit Bull Terrier in need of great home.  Goldie has been through a lot in her short life and she deserves a family to call her own.  Goldie loves to go for walks and play with toys.  She is crate trained and behaves well in the house.  Goldie seems to get along well with other dogs but she is afraid of most dogs initially.  Although Goldie may be a little shy at first, she quickly warms up and loves attention.

I am in a foster home so please email Marcy at marcyb411@hotmail.com to set up an appointment to meet me.

D23002 Hi, they call me Baby!  I’m a 6-year-old spayed female Pit Bull. I’m the sweetest, calmest and most loving girl. I look like your average Pit Bull, cropped ears and a little on the big side. But looks are deceiving. I’m a cuddler and so lovable.

I am in a foster home so please email Marcy at marcyb411@hotmail.com to set up an appointment to meet me.

Psst, over here!  I’m Diamond, a 6-month-old female Pit Bull. I came into the shelter with a broken leg. The staff took me to the vet and now I have a splint. I need a nice family to take care of me and let me relax so I can heal. After that, it’s play, play, play time!

I am in a foster home so please email Marcy at marcyb411@hotmail.com to set up an appointment to meet me.

Hi everyone. My name is Susannah Clair. I am a 10-year-old female Beagle. No one ever cared to spay me, so I have some mammary masses that need to be removed. Don't let that scare you away though, I am a total sweetheart with a lot of love to give! I am not up for adoption yet, but I will be as soon as I am feeling better. I was wondering, aan anyone could help me out with my vet bills? Just because I am a senior, doesn't mean I don't deserve to be healthy.

I love to snuggle and follow my foster mom around. I get along with dogs and cats. I like to follow my foster brother around outside. I have come a long way in the past few weeks. I was so scared when I first got to my foster home that I often spent my time curled up in a tight little ball. Now you might find me scampering around the house or stretched out on a nice dog bed. I am working on housetraining and with some patience, I'll figure it out. I figured out that my tail works and now I wag it all the time!

If you would like to donate towards my care or even be my sponsor, please email MarcyB411@hotmail.com

My name is Chancey. I am a 6-7 year old female Cocker Spaniel. And boy, you should have seen me when I first entered the shelter. I was one of the most neglected dogs that the staff had ever seen. I was so matted that the nice staff member had to give me a sedative to shave me without hurting me. My nails were growing into my pads and I was suffering from a severe skin, ear, and eye infections. I also had untreated Hypothyroidism. Luckily, the staff saw a glimmer of hope and gave me a chance. With medicine and the love of my foster family, I remembered what it was like to be happy.

You may notice that I cannot see too well. My skin was so infected that it drooped over my eyes. I also have a condition called entroptian, or "cherry eye." Now that my skin is better, the next step in my journey is to repair my eyes and get a little brow lift so I can see.

Even though I have been through a lot of pain, I am such a sweetie. I love to cuddle and receive attention. I get along with other animals I am housetrained. I am looking for a sponsor(s) to help pay for my surgery so that I can see better. Please email MarcyB411@hotmail.com.

I am Penny and I am an 8-month-old female Pit Bull. I came into the ARL terrified and covered with fleas. In the shelter environment, I was very timid and nervous. Even when the staff tried to coax me with yummy treats, I backed away with my tail between her legs. The nice people here decided it was best to pull me out of that environment and put me a foster home to assist in my socialization process. When I arrived in my foster home, I let my true colors shine! I'm a happy girl who loves to play. I get along with other dogs and I'm working on basic obedience. Please remember that I am a young dog. I am looking for a family who will keep me forever.

I am in a foster home so please email Marcy at marcyb411@hotmail.com to set up an appointment to meet me.

C48606 Hey, look at me! I’m Meka, a 5-year-old spayed female black torti DSH. I’m a big girl with a heart full of love! I love it when you pet me – I will be your best friend.

I am in a foster home so please email Marcy at marcyb411@hotmail.com to set up an appointment to meet me.

Hi, my name is Conan. Check out my smile and my fluffy coat!  I am a 5-year-old neutered male Keeshond. Unfortunately, I was living in filthy conditions before the ARL saved me. My general health and care was neglected and I was very depressed. But now that I am in a foster home, I am doing fantastic and smiling all the time! I love other dogs and people. I walk nicely on a leash, I am crate trained,  and I am housetrained. I really like to cuddle with my foster parents and my doggie foster sister. If you want lots of smiles in your life, you'll want to meet me!

I am in a foster home so please email Marcy at marcyb411@hotmail.com to set up an appointment to meet me.

My name is Bullet! I am a 9-year-old neutered male Dachshund/Chihuahua mix. My picture does not even begin to show my cuteness! I was brought into the ARL after my owner became ill. Thankfully, I was given the chance I deserve to find a loving home. I am crate trained and housetrained. I get along with other dogs too. I would be the perfect dog for someone who is looking for a small, lower energy, companion. When you meet me you will see that I am the dog for you!

I am in a foster home so please email Marcy at marcyb411@hotmail.com to set up an appointment to meet me.

Farm Animals

Guinness is a 4-year-old Tennessee Walking Horse gelding.  He came to us in horrible condition and had been neglected for most of his short life.  He is very sweet natured and has good ground manners.  He is up-to-date on  vaccines, has a current coggins and has had his teeth floated.  Guinness is young and he is a clean slate.  He needs an experienced owner/handler to bring him along.  He is not broke to ride.  Adoption application, home/barn visit and adoption contract required.  Please contact Tracie Graham or Alison Rudy for more information at 610-373-8830.

LB is a 4-year-old Paint cross gelding.  LB was originally part of a large scale cruelty case involving 15 horses.  He was emaciated and severely neglected when the ARL took possession of him.  He spent over a year in a foster home gaining weight and strength.  He was started under saddle in that foster home.  He was recently adopted and returned to the shelter because of some lameness issues that presented while he was in training.  LB has been sound since he was returned to the ARL.  LB is not for beginners and he will require an experienced owner/handler to bring him along.  He is current on vaccines, has a current coggins and has had his teeth floated.  Adoption application, home/barn visit and adoption contract required.  Please contact Tracie Graham or Alison Rudy for more information at 610-373-8830.

Rest in peace, Snyckers. You left us on May 11, 2011 and we will love and miss you always.
