Happy New Year!

Well, it's here again, time to begin anew with a fresh year and a with renewed motivation to make our lives better.  From my many years of making and breaking resolutions, I've finally learned to keep my resolutions as achievable as possible - "baby steps" is the catch-phrase I've been hearing on TV lately.  I'm wishing that people will include helping the animals into some of their resolutions.  It doesn't have to be a huge commitment because every little bit helps.

Will you share your ideas for resolutions to help the animals in 2010?  Let's hear them!!

Nuter and spay everey Dog and Cat till all the shelter animal have forever homes.

Gosh, that's quite a resolution Carol! I wish I had the ability to personally spay and neuter all of the animals. You already do so much, thanks for being such a great foster and adoptive mom! Wouldn't it be terrific if everyone made a resolution to foster a pet just once this year?

I have recently started fostering dogs for a rescue again. I haven't fostered dogs for a few years now, although I have continued to foster cats. I am also continuing with TNR and adoption of cats here in Leesport, and am thinking about starting an official group here in the Leesport area to help with our cat problem.

I will have one cat going up for adoption after he gets FeLV/FIV tested and vaccinated tonight. That is one cat kept out of the shelter, and I will foster him until he finds a home. (In addition to the two foster cats I have for One by One.) He is also neutered and will be microchipped, so if he ever does make it down to the ARL, I can pick him up.

Microchipping our pets this year is one resolution we can all keep, in addition to the usual spay/neuter and other care. And of course all of us can educate others about adoption, foster care, and preventing irresponsible pet ownership and cruelty.
