There are so many important things to know about animal welfare and shelters and we bring it to you in hands on and fun way. You can choose from the following programs or special request one too!

Animal Safety – Groups learn how to approach animals and be aware of what animals are telling us with their bodies. They will have an opportunity to develop skills on handling and learning the dos and don’ts of being around animals they don’t know.

What is a shelter and what do we do?- Little is known about what shelters actually do and it can be especially challenging explaining this to children. T his program’s goal is to present the shelter and its purpose in a way that anyone can understand. Groups will learn about adoptions, spay and neuter, and how we care for our animals.

Animal Care-This program goes through a general overview of what each popular animal’s needs are and how to care for them. We will teach about collars and leashes, grooming, food and veterinary care. This program will also talk about the different needs of animals at every age.

Middle- High school

What is a shelter and how do they help?– Little is known about what the full function of an animal shelters are and all of the services we provide to the community. This program talks about animal care, spay and neuter, humane investigation, fostering, volunteering and more.

Cost/Responsibility of Pet Ownership – Many people and potential adopters don’t fully research all of the costs and responsibilities associated with owning pets, and especially exotic pets. Things like veterinary care, training and grooming can add up quickly if owners are not prepared for it. This program sheds light on all of the things to expect when you want a new pet.

Careers in Animal Welfare- So many young people are drawn to the excitement of working in a career with animals. There are many options available and dozens that are not regularly thought about. This program talks about career options, requirements and schooling and what to expect when you work in an animal career.

Animal Abuse/Cruelty– This program focuses specifically on the different types of animal cruelty and how they affect the animals and community. We talk about many topics such as dog fighting, hoarding and puppy mills. This program touches on animal law and where the government has made improvements and where they still need to.

Environmental Sustainability– This program highlights important sustainable and eco-friendly actions shelters nationwide are focusing on. Important efforts such as spay and neuter, over population and disease control are among our top focus. We also discuss options on how to pitch in locally by recycling and transforming your backyard into wild animal habitats.

Adult Groups

Shelters in the Economy and as a Business – One of the most common questions we receive from our supports and community is where do our donation dollars go? Does your organization receive any government or state funding? How does a shelter environment affect business decisions? How can the community become more involved? All of these questions and more are covered and discussed through this program.
